New Study on Best/Worst 200 Largest US Cities for Cycling

For agents/brokers with clients who are committed to spending time on wheels in the saddle, LawnStarter recently released a best and worst ranking system for the largest 200 US cities for cycling in 18 metrics across 4 categories including…

  • Weather
  • Access to bike routes
  • Bike shops and bike share programs
  • Safety
  • Community support for bike groups/organizations.

San Francisco tied with Stockton, Fremont, Hayward, Santa Rosa and Modesto for having the most bike lanes per square mile.

Cities having the fewest bike lanes per square mile were Dallas, Memphis, and southern cities/states due to their hot and humid climates.

Although New York is seeing a growth rate of cycling that is nearly double that of other major cities, (and 3X the number of riders than  it had 15 years ago), New York cyclists are challenged by its cold and icy conditions in the winter and high humidity in the summer.
